The Stark Public Special Olympic Royal Knights basketball teams split a pair of games during the weekend in Lexington, Ohio.
The adult team beat Richland County, 43-42, in overtime as Cory Martin’s 2-pointer sent the game into overtime, then Cory Amantangelo’s two free throws lifted Stark to the win.
Leading scorers for the Royal Knights (2-4) were Amatangelo with 27, Tyler Kramer with 7 and Branden Mayes with 7.
The school-age team (4-2) lost, 68-53, to Richland County. Scorers were Max Broom with 37 points; Nate Manko with 6 points; James Johnson with 4, Cameron Broom with 4 and Nick Doyle with 2.
This week the school-age team practices Tuesday night at MCFC (6:15pm – 8pm) and Wednesday at Barr (6pm – 8pm).
Both teams play Saturday, Feb. 6, at 11:00 a.m. in Medina, OH.
