The Arc of Stark County: The Arc is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with any form of mental retardation or developmental disability, and their families. The agency exists to promote, support, and protect the quality of life and the rights and opportunities of all persons with MRDD to realize their goals and to choose where and how they live, learn, work and play. Family Alliance Network and Support (FANS): FANS is open to all families who are supported through the ARC of Stark County, Inc. FANS replaced the U.P.S. for Down Syndrome program and is expanding its mission to involve parents of children with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. This committee is comprised of U.P.S. parents, parents of children with other disabilities, board and staff members of The Arc, and members of other community organizations that support individuals with disabilities. FANS welcomes and encourages all to attend their monthly meetings and enjoy the monthly activities. They have a monthly newsletter. The Arc of Ohio: The Arc of Ohio works to create a world where children and adults with mental retardation and developmental disabilities have and enjoy equal rights and opportunities.
